October 1 – Our Money Story
(using pages 1-6 of Stewardship Study Journal)
We all have a money story, whether we realize it or not. Some of us carry stories of fear, shame, or scarcity, while others have been shaped by experiences of generosity or abundance. The Our Money Story resource invites us to listen for where God may be speaking a new narrative into our lives—one of liberation, justice, and enough for all. On our first night together, we will begin by sharing pieces of our own money stories, opening space for honesty, reflection, and connection. As we journey forward, we will discover how our personal stories can be transformed and woven into God’s greater story of hope.

October 8 – Remember
(using pages 7-16 of Stewardship Study Journal)
We begin digging in with Luke 22:1–23 and Exodus 16:1–18. Jesus shares the Passover meal with His disciples, reminding them—and us—that God’s table is wide enough for all. The Israelites received manna in the wilderness, just enough for each day. Together, we’ll ask: What are our earliest money memories? How have those memories shaped our sense of “enough”?

October 15 – Release
(using pages 17-26 of Stewardship Study Journal)
Our third week turns to Matthew 19:16–22 (the rich young ruler) and Deuteronomy 15:1–11 (the command to cancel debts). These scriptures remind us that freedom often requires letting go—whether of wealth, shame, fear, or the need for control. We’ll explore how God calls us into release, so that generosity and grace can take root.

October 22 – Reimagine
(using pages 27-36 of Stewardship Study Journal)
With Mark 12:38–44 (the widow’s offering) and Leviticus 19:9–10; 25:8–12 (the year of Jubilee), we’ll reimagine what abundance looks like when God’s people share. Jesus challenges unjust systems while honoring the costly gifts of the vulnerable. Leviticus paints a radical vision of Jubilee—rest for the land, forgiveness of debts, restoration of community. How can we glimpse Jubilee today?

October 30 (Thursday night) – Restore
(using pages 37-46 of Stewardship Study Journal)
We close the series with John 21:1–19 (Jesus restoring Peter by the sea) and Genesis 33:1–17 (Jacob and Esau’s reconciliation). Both stories show us that restoration is possible, even after deep wounds. Jesus feeds Peter and calls him to “feed my sheep.” Esau forgives Jacob and says, “I have enough, my brother.” Together, we’ll reflect on how God’s love restores our lives and relationships.

Each evening stands on its own, but together they form a larger story—our money story—reframed in the light of God’s story. These nights will not be about budgets or spreadsheets. Instead, they are about memory and imagination, art and scripture, reconciliation and hope.
We invite you to come hungry—for food, fellowship, and the Spirit’s renewing work. Whether you join us for one week or all five, may we discover together that in Christ, there is enough.
Location: Social Hall, First Christian Church of North Hollywood

Wednesdays in October:
Our Money Story

This October, our church will gather in the Social Hall on Wednesday nights for a special four-week journey called Our Money Story. Through potluck dinners, worship, and creative reflection, we’ll explore how scripture and art invite us to remember, release, reimagine, and restore our relationship with money and God’s abundance.
Our rhythm each week will be simple and welcoming:
5:45 p.m. – Potluck dinner (bring a dish to share; we’ll provide drinks, plates, and utensils).
6:30 p.m. – Worship and reflection (~60 minutes with scripture, music, art, and reflection).
This series is designed to help communities dig deeper into the stories we carry about money, while listening for God’s story of enough. The intention of these gatherings will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with others in our community and share about our relationship with money! Each week we’ll focus on a new theme:
