The gospel tells a different story.
It’s a living, breathing invitation to transform our spirits daily by walking with God and moving humanity forward, as Jesus’s ministry did. It’s a dynamic movement for wholeness that’s expansive, inclusive of, and responsive to the wider world. It’s an opportunity to bring us closer to the divine in our everyday lives and our sacred responsibility to help shape the rest of the story.
Most of us arrive carrying stories we didn’t choose—stories shaped by fear, division, scarcity, or the quiet sense that we don’t quite belong. We’ve heard them so often that they start to sound true. But deep down, we know many of those stories aren’t worth repeating.
It begins with a God who refuses to give up on love. A God whose grace is unending, whose mercy does not wear thin, and whose invitation is always wide enough to include you. The gospel is not a story of perfection—it’s a story of belonging. And belonging always has to start somewhere.
You are not a side character here. You are not an audience member. You are part of the unfolding narrative of grace, healing, justice, and love. The gospel is a story worth repeating—and it’s one we believe is still being written, every time someone finds a place to belong.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to believe the “right” things before you walk through the door. You simply have to be willing to step into a better story—one where love is stronger than fear, community is stronger than isolation, and hope still has a future.
For more than a hundred years, this community has been telling—and retelling—that story. Through generations of questions and courage, doubt and faith, joy and grief, we have gathered again and again to remember what is most true: God’s love does not run out, and it does not leave anyone behind.
Discipleship
Each of us arrives here with unique traditions and experiences, but we celebrate the opportunity to be lifelong students of Jesus in fellowship. As Disciples, we engage in thoughtful conversation and wrestle with challenging questions without relying on upcycled answers from the echo chambers of yesteryear. We are witnesses to our collective experience as we “do church life” together while honoring our individual faith journeys. When you want to join our community, we ask only one question—

Maybe you followed a job, a relationship, or a quiet sense that it was time for something new. You arrived with hopes, questions, and a story still being written. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone here.
Our church is made up of people like you—people who didn’t always start here, but found their way here. It doesn’t take long in a conversation to discover that many of us are still carrying pieces of where we came from, even as we try to build something meaningful where we are.
That’s why sanctuary matters to us.
Sanctuary is a place where you can exhale. A place where you don’t have to perform, pretend, or have all the answers. In a world that often feels frayed and uncertain, we’re trying to be a community where people can belong, be known, and take the next faithful step forward—together.
Here, we hope you’ll find a community small enough to notice you and care about your life, and strong enough to stand alongside you as we work for good beyond our walls. We believe that when ordinary people show up for one another, real change becomes possible.

Our mission
First Christian Church of North Hollywood’s mission is to follow Jesus’s example and embody God’s profound love by cultivating these values in our church and beyond:
To reject others is to deny Jesus. Here, you belong first—without qualifiers. You’re met where you are in your journey, celebrated for finding your way in, and nurtured in your discipleship.
We encourage you to live out your faith between Sundays. Build fellowship, lean into spiritual growth edges, and leave every service energized to affect the world the way Jesus did.
From youth in need to our neighbors in distress to marginalized communities around the world, we see God in each person and accept the charge to do “even greater things” than Jesus (John 14:12) by witness, example, and action in our ministries.
